201804082588322431981282394.jpgHello and welcome to my blog, my name is Raven, I am a Fourth year Graduate Medical Student at King’s College London (KCL/GKT), currently intercalating for a Master’s degree in Health and International Development, with a specialisation in Population Studies at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

I created this blog for many reasons. First, to help and encourage people to get out of their comfort zone, travel, and to share my travel experiences as a young black woman, and the many ways travelling has helped me. Secondly to share my experiences of Studying in London, Medical School, Applying for medical school, studying a Master’s degree etc.. I also love writing and creating, and I needed an avenue to share my other interests such as Global Health, Mental Health, Beauty and Entrepreneurship.

Whilst here, you’ll find information on:

Whats the difference between this and other blogs you may ask? Well, Me. There’s no one else like me, and I don’t know a lot of people that have had the life experience I have had, or the insight I have gained. Also, Anything I recommend are things that I have either used/experienced for myself, or I have extensively researched. All the trips that i go on are paid for independently and using savings, which is why you’ll find lots of content on money saving tips, budgeting, and travelling on a limited budget. That being said, I always choose quality over quantity so I don’t necessarily use the cheapest flights or hotels, but rather the most comfortable at my price range. Plus, hidden costs are real.

Secondly, you’ll find a lot of information here on Global health and mental health. One of the main reasons why I enjoy travelling so much is for the many health benefits that I have personally experienced from it. I have experienced periods of depression, anxiety and feeling burnt out in the past, and whenever I was at my lowest, there was nothing quite like travelling and experiencing somewhere new to bring everything back into focus. It can push you out of your comfort zone, stimulate and inspire your mind with new experiences, people etc, and bring about self reflection and self realisation in ways you couldn’t have imagined. Also, as a black person living in London, it’s an effective way to get some much needed vitamin D
